SAWNEE EMC Celebrates National Lineman Appreciation Day
(Cumming, GA; March 18, 2016) — Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation (Sawnee EMC) has always said that one of its greatest assets is the loyalty and dedication of its people. As such, America’s electric cooperatives have designated a special day in April as National Lineman Appreciation Day. Additionally, Sawnee EMC’s Board of Directors designated April 19, 2016 as “Sawnee EMC Lineman Appreciation Day.”
On April 19, 2016, Sawnee EMC will honor the dedicated employees who often work in challenging conditions to keep the lights on. We proudly recognize all electric linemen for the services they perform around the clock in dangerous conditions to keep power flowing and protect the public’s safety.
“Our lineworkers are the first responders of our electric distribution system, and they work around the clock on our system’s distributions lines,” said Michael Goodroe, President and CEO of Sawnee EMC. Mr. Goodroe further stated, “Conditions can be dangerous, but they power through to ensure reliable service for our members.”
Sawnee EMC’s dedicated linemen maintain over 10,000 miles of line throughout our seven county service territory. The dedicated team of men and women that make up the entire Sawnee EMC family of professional staff embody what has made Sawnee EMC the great electric cooperative that it is today.
Sawnee EMC invites members to take a moment and thank a lineman for the work they do each and every day. Use #thankalineman in your social media outlet(s) to show your support for the men and women who light our lives. Please show your support on April 19th.
