(Cumming, September 4, 2015) – The members from two (2) of Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation’s (Sawnee EMC) nine (9) directorate districts have elected new directors to represent them on the Cooperative’s Board of Directors.

On September 1st, members from Sawnee’s District #1 (Birmingham) elected Mr. Roger Coker to serve as their
new director. Also, on September 3rd, the members from District #6 (Matt) elected Mr. Tim Heard to serve as their
their representative on Sawnee’s Board of Directors.

These two (2) director elections were part of the scheduled director election activities for 2015. One (1) additional director seat, representing Sawnee’s District #4 (Dougherty), was also up for consideration in 2015. In this district, the incumbent director, Mr. Gary Porter, was re-affirmed by the members of that district, given the provisions outlined in the Corporation’s Bylaws.

“We are excited to be working with these new directors and welcome them in their positions; we also congratulate Mr. Porter on the renewal of his term” stated Michael A. Goodroe, President and CEO of Sawnee EMC.

Mr. Roger Coker replaces Mr. Frank Coker, who represented the members of Sawnee’s District #1 on Sawnee’s Board for the past 45 years. Mr. Tim Heard replaces Mr. Preston Martin, who represented the members of District #6 on Sawnee’s Board for the same amount of time.

“We were very blessed and honored to have individuals of such great character as Mr. Frank Coker and Mr. Preston Martin on our Board during some of our most challenging years” stated Michael A. Goodroe.

As a cooperative, the Sawnee Bylaws lay out a process where members of the Cooperative who are seeking the office of director in a particular district, are elected by the members of that district to represent them on the Board.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Frank Coker and Mr. Preston Martin for the service they have provided the members of this great Cooperative” states Blake House, V.P. of Member Services. “And, we now welcome Mr. Roger Coker and Mr. Tim Heard to their new roles on our Board of Directors” he adds.
