Sawnee EMC Announces Pre-Pay Program

(Cumming, August 26, 2015) – Pre-paying for future services is a trend that is sweeping the consumer landscape… everything from cell phone usage, to legal services, to toll lane charges… It’s not a new or novel concept by any means. But did you know that you can also purchase your Sawnee EMC electricity with a “pre-pay” approach?

Sawnee has offered Pre-Pay service for residential members, upon request, since September of 2014, and the participants have had nothing but good things to say about it. There is no fee to enroll, no late fees or reconnect fees, and no deposits required. Furthermore, if an existing member has a security deposit on file with Sawnee, that deposit can either be used to settle outstanding charges, refunded or applied to an eligible pre-pay account as a credit.

“This is a great program for a residential customer who wants to more actively manage their electricity usage or a new customer who doesn’t want to pay a security deposit” states Blake House, V.P. of Member Services. “We have been testing our processes for over a year, on a expanded limited basis, but we are now ready for broader deployment“.

Participation in this innovative program is optional, and enrollment is simple and easy. It can be done in minutes simply by calling Sawnee’s Call Center. Existing residential members can easily convert their account(s) from the standard monthly billing option to the Pre-Pay program. Once enrollment occurs, a “remote disconnect meter” will be installed at the account. This meter can be operated by Sawnee from its offices located in Cumming.

Pre-Pay participants can receive low balance notices by email. They also can add funds to their account by using Sawnee’s online customer portal called “Smart Hub” or by using their mobile device (iPhone, iPad and Android) once Sawnee’s mobile app has been installed. Members may also make payments through the “pay now” option at www.sawnee.com.

Members who prefer to come by Sawnee’s office and make a payment may do so at their convenience. Sawnee has a payment kiosk that is available 24 hours a day at the drive through. This allows for payments to be made and immediately posted at night, on weekends, and even holidays.

Think about it… no more receiving a bill in the mail and being surprised by how much electricity you have used. Sawnee’s Pre-Pay program is simple and easy, and lets you pay whatever you want to, whenever you want to, based simply on the amount of energy you wish to purchase at that time.
