Sawnee EMC Announces Postponement of 2020 Annual Meeting of Members
Friday | August 21, 2020
All News

CUMMING, GA – The Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation Board of Directors recently announced the decision to postpone Sawnee’s 2020 Annual Meeting of Members due to the prevalence of COVID-19.  Sawnee EMC’s Annual Meeting is generally a gathering of over 1,000 Sawnee members and guests and is traditionally scheduled for the first Saturday in October as stated in the Bylaws.

After much review and consideration, coupled with the continued presence of COVID-19, the Board of Directors determined it to be in the overall best interest of members and employees to postpone the 2020 Annual Meeting of Members until Saturday, October 2, 2021.

“This is a challenging time and one that requires us to view things through a different perspective,” states Rodney Reese, Chairman of Sawnee EMC’s Board of Directors.  Mr. Reese further states, “The safety of all involved are of first and foremost concern.”

Sawnee EMC members will receive, either by US Mail or email on or around September 15, 2020, an Annual Report highlighting the key accomplishments of the cooperative over the previous year.  The Annual Report will provide an overview and insight into the day to day matters of Sawnee, as well as include the audited 2019 financial report and an update on activities within the Cooperative.

Sawnee EMC members may also view information related to the postponement of the 2020 Annual Meeting online at www.sawnee.com/annual-meeting.

Questions or concerns regarding the postponement of the Annual Meeting can be directed to Sawnee’s Customer Call Center at 770-887-2363, email at customerservice@sawnee.com or text 678-999-8124.
