Virtual Solar Commercial Accounts

Commercial Accounts now Eligible for Sawnee’s Virtual Solar Program
Wednesday | March 3, 2021
All News

(CUMMING, GA) - Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation (Sawnee EMC) announced today that its Virtual Solar Program is now available to more Sawnee members with the deployment of its “new” Commercial Virtual Solar Program.

In addition to the Virtual Solar Program that was made available to residential and small commercial members in 2018, Sawnee now offers virtual solar opportunities to accounts billed under Sawnee’s “Large General Service” (Schedule “G”), “School Service” (Schedule “SCHS”) and “Large Power Service” (Schedule LPS) rates.

Through both Virtual Solar Programs, participants will be able to receive the renewable energy benefits and offsets that solar energy offers, without the challenges that come with owning and operating their own solar array.

Sawnee’s larger commercial members can now sign-up to purchase the energy output from “blocks of solar panels” with each block equaling ten (10) solar panels from Sawnee’s portfolio of solar facilities across Georgia.  Commercial members can subscribe to a maximum of fifty (50) blocks per account.

The price per block, per month, under the Commercial Virtual Solar program is $19.75 for billing months October through March, and $26.00 for April through September.  A separate pricing plan is available for residential and small commercial members under Sawnee’s Virtual Solar Rider program.

Interested members are encouraged to review Sawnee’s Virtual Solar Program website at www.sawnee.com/virtual-solar for more details regarding the program.  There they will also be able to review the historical solar output under the program, as well as “Frequently Asked Questions” and many other items.  Members may sign up online at www.sawnee.com/virtual-solar or by contacting Sawnee’s Customer Call Center at 770-887-2363.

“Both of Sawnee’s Virtual Solar Programs give our members the opportunity to purchase solar energy without making the upfront investment of installing a solar system themselves,” states Blake House, Vice President of Member Services.
Sawnee stresses that its Virtual Solar Programs are not intended to reduce a member’s monthly electric bill, but rather to offer an easy, affordable and no hassle way for participating members to meet a portion of their monthly electric needs, with clean renewable solar energy.

To learn more about or to sign-up for Sawnee’s Virtual Solar Program contact Sawnee’s Customer Call Center at 770-887-2363, text 678-999-8124, email customerservice@sawnee.com or chat at sawnee.com.
